INTEGRATED FILTRATION

Optic's integrated filtration system pulls in the fumes right at their origin, similar to dust shoes on CNC machines. The filters include HEPA-grade and high-activation carbon media to mechanically and chemically filter the fumes created from the laser cutting process.

REMOVABLE DESIGN

Simply detach the 18" x 12" cutting mat to use Optic directly on any surface, such as a large sheet of material or a butcher block table. Rubber feet protect the work object and ensure Optic stays in place.

POWERED BY INTELLIGENT MACHINE INDEXING SOFTWARE

The infinite work area process is simple and does not require the exact positioning of the Optic. After repositioning the Optic, matching the laser pointer with two specified points on the artwork allows the included software, LightBurn, to precisely align the next tile in the sequence.

At Rendyr, the company behind the Optic Portable Laser Cutter, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to create their own ideas with the most advanced technology available.

Co-founders Kaelum Hasler and Martin Angst have been passionate about laser cutters since they created their first industrial design prototypes and architectural models as students but were frustrated that the limited access to the machines presented bottlenecks to their projects.

When Kaelum pitched his prototype of a portable laser cutter to Martin after they connected over various robotic fabrication projects at Virginia Tech, Martin was sold and joined the team.

Great product and awesome support staff

The Rendyr Optic is truly in a class by itself when compared with other laser cutters/engravers on the market. It is a very well designed and manufactured product that allowed me to go from unboxing to project completion In a very short time. The fact that it has a small enough footprint to be portable, yet powerful enough to engrave or cut the variety of materials it can is remarkable! In addition, the fact that your project size is only limited by your imagination (within reason of course) also sets it apart from its competition at the price point it occupies. Not having any experience using a laser engraver, I must admit that any issues I encountered using the Optic were of my own creation.and the most difficult part was getting familiar with Lightburn, the software used to create and produce my projects. I can’t say enough good things about the staff at Rendyr who were always eager to assist me with any questions this “Laser Newbie” had learning the product or the software. After just two weeks, I have been able to produce several projects like those shown with this review. I recommend anyone looking to buy a laser engraver/cutter take a serious look at the Optic.

Portable, excellent option

I'm a hobby maker with a busy life and a small home. I can't have a large machine that sits idle 90% of the month. I love that I can put the Rendyr Optic away easily on a shelf and take it out only when I'm using it. It's great that it interfaces with LightBurn which is super easy to use. I've cut a lot of plywood boxes and toys. One tip I would suggest is that if you're going to do a lot of through cutting, get an inexpensive honeycomb bed. I found one that exactly fits the Optic so I can just set it on top and cut without burn marks on the back of my material.

A versatile addition to any shop

I've been using the Optic for over six months now, and I couldn't be happier with it. The setup and storage are a breeze, and I've used it to cut wood, plastics, fabric, and engrave everything from butcher blocks to personal electronics and ceramics. Its compact size offers endless possibilities. As a maker, I appreciate the pairing software (Lightburn) and the fine-tuned control over settings it provides, which sets it apart from the competition. The easy setup process is perfect for quick prototyping, and I'm thrilled with how I can create large engraving projects with such a small machine.

Easy to use and portable!

I have had my Optic for about four months. I was so surprised at how easy it was to set-up, I was basically engraving within 20 minutes. YouTube has tons of easy to follow tutorials for Lightburn software.

Since I have shown my engravings to my friends and family, I am now covered up with job requests. Some days I run my optic for 8-10 hours straight. It always provides consistent cuts and engravings. I have made instruments, patches, cutting boards, coasters, leather goods, stencils and even customized skateboards. The possibilities are endless! Love it!

Game changer!

Having Optic apart of the shop has really given me creative options that just haven't been available to me in the past. Not being limited to what size project I can use this on is really amazing. Being able to unfold this thing, take it off the mat, and lay it on a huge table for some laser work is something only Optic can offer. Super easy to use and you can toss it in the truck and take it anywhere. I've only use it a handful of times, but I can already see it becoming a staple tool for me and my work.
